Reflection of Light Apparatus

National Museum of American History
This device demonstrates the laws of the reflection of light. The “Secretan à Paris” inscription on the dial refers to Marc Francois Secretan (1804-1867), a Swiss mathematician who went into partnership with Lerebours in Paris in 1844, and became sole proprietor of the shop in 1855. The firm was still in the Secretan family at the end of the century.
