Inside the outline of Ghana, a shield-shaped medallion is formed by two crossed flags. A portrait of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Prime Minister of Ghana, appears in the center, surrounded by flowers. Inscribed above is "Ghana Independence Day, March 6, 1957", and below, "Freedom and Justice." A square border of flowers surrounds the whole. Printed in black, green, yellow and red on a white ground.
