The maiden spirit mask or agbogo mmuo, has delicate features, tattoos or body paint and an elaborate hairstyle, here ornamented with combs.The central crest of seven horns was covered with a leather sleeve creating a single crest hairstyle. The mask is worn by young male dancers with a body suit of appliqued cloth. Representing the ideals of youthful beauty, she also embodies qualities of good character, and family pride and success. Danced during the dry season, the masqueraders entertain the living while representing, honoring and performing for the ancestors.
