A soldier was disarming natives but one of them resisted and the weapon ended up firing. The rest of the U.S. soldiers then opened fire, killing 150 Indians, half of which were women and children. The U.S. lost only 25 cavalry men. This incident occurred near the Wounded Knee Creek in South Dakota in the year of 1890 on December 28th.
