This collection is a compilation created to provide an overview of the life and works of the poet and novelist, Sylvia Plath, via photographs and writings. The collection also attempts to show the author's struggle to overcome depression as depicted in portraits, writings, and biographical information by and about her. After an examination of all these elements, students will be able to begin composing a poem in the personification style of one of Plath's most famous works, "Elm".
This collection was created in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery's 2017 Learning to Look Summer Teacher Institute.
