<p>The enslavement of African-Americans is deeply rooted in American History. Slavery began when Africans were captured and taken via boat to Virginia to be sold off and put to work in cotton plantations.  I chose to contrast the two opposite ends of the spectrum in social class. This includes how Blacks were treated in all aspects of The Trade process. The focus of my collection is on paintings as opposed to works of literature because I felt that one  painting could embody so much more than words can describe and you can include your own general interpretations. </p>
